Knowing Your Dog
Dogs are man’s best friends. Most people would definitely agree with you, while some may say quite the opposite. Here a few good things to know about dogs before you run out a buy one. It will help you to make the decision on whether you want one or not. Dogs are for the most part the easiest animals to take care of, besides cats.
However, until they are 1 1/2 years old they can be a pain to deal with. They can be hard to live with these first couple of years because you are trying to teach them tricks such as, how not to use the carpet as their personal bathroom. Also they can be pretty hyper as puppies, much like children can be at a very young age as well.
A good tip is to keep them exercising and keep them eating. Just try not to overdue it. Now once they have reached that calm adult age of two years then they will be used to the routine that you have set for them and you will love the way they behave. Another tip, you need to make sure to neuter your dog, unless you want puppies, because this can make them quite crazy at certain times. Even if they are adults not neutering them could give you unwarranted stress from your pet.
Dogs are incredibly social animals that love to be around people. They feel happy and secure when they are surrounded by people and hate it when they are left alone for too long. If you work alot then you should consider getting another dog. That way they can keep each other company. But remember that even though they may have another playmate you need to give attention to both dogs.
By giving them the attention and care that they deserve you will find that they will love you in return and keep your home safe from intruders. More often then none, people who own dogs and treat them well do not get robbed. Remember that dogs are not cats, they do not have a litter box to use. You need to remember to take them outside regularly or when they ask you for it.
If you have a small dog then you will probably have to wake up in the middle of the night and let them out. Bigger dogs have an easier time of holding it in. It is also easier to train the bigger dogs because they find that, like their owners, they don’t like to smell the odors that they generate.
